VW16 - Data Integration and the Future of Maternal and Child Health

Much of the focus for integrating data for maternal and child health has involved merging and linking administrative public health and social services databases at the state-wide level. This work provides a platform for investigating issues that cannot be fully understood using data from only one source, such as vital statistics, hospitalization data, Medicaid claims, or newborn screening. However, the local scale is “where it’s at”. At the local scale, a wide array of data-rich resources is available to enable more comprehensive analysis of social, economic, and health care assess issues, including housing, wealth and income, public safety, accessibility, greenspace and other aspects of the built and lived environments.
