Melissa Newsome is a Ph.D. student in Public Health at the University of South Florida committed to addressing critical issues in healthcare, with a particular focus on reproductive healthcare access for mothers in Florida. Melissa holds dual Bachelor's degrees in Biology and International Affairs from Florida State University, earned in 2017. She continued her studies at the University of Cambridge, obtaining an M.Phil. in Social Anthropology in 2018. With a passion for improving healthcare systems and quality, Melissa gained experience as a research coordinator at the FSU Center for Behavioral Health Integration, where her work was dedicated to quality improvement projects in obstetrics and pediatrics. With her diverse academic background and practical experience, she aspires to improve healthcare access for all in Florida and beyond.
