VW19 - Closing the Gap: Multidisciplinary Model for Treating Medical Trauma in Marginalized Perinatal Populations

Medical trauma in the perinatal period disproportionally affects marginalized families, including BIPOC and LGBTQIA+, who have historically faced oppressive practices in medical systems. Attempts to address medical PTSD in these groups have been insulated and field-specific including mental health, medicine, allied health, and others. This model of care, situated in cultural humility, proposes a multidisciplinary approach to close gaps in treatment through collaborative partnerships.
